Members Present: Mayor Mr. Rolfes Law Director Mr. Reichert Councilpersons Mr. Simpson, Mr. Nunnery, Mr. Boll, Mr. Sammons Clerk Ms. Ross MINUTES: Mr. Nunnery moved that the January Minutes be accepted. Mr. Boll seconded the motion. Motion carried 100%. TREASURER’S REPORT: Mr. Simpson moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Mr. Sammons seconded the motion. Motion carried 100%. Mr. Nunnery moved that the Clerk/Treasurer be authorized to pay the bills. Mr. Simpson seconded the motion. Motion carried 100%. MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR’S REPORTSupervisor Gillespie reported that the Department put up the flags in the Village for Wm. Henry Harrison’s birthday ceremony and cleaned up the snow at both parking lots. The Department also plowed and salted the roads for both heavy snows. They worked on the village‘s two walk behind mowers and tuned them up for spring. Mr. Simpson reported a smell and sewage leak at 11 W. Harrison Avenue. The problem was eliminated. The Department repaired the calcium chloride tank on the dump truck as it had a wiring problem. They emptied the salt from the dump truck and pressure washed the bed and the salt spreader as well as greased the fittings. The Department cleaned out all the storm drains in the Village and in Aston Oaks. Mr. Gillespie thanked Mr. Boll, Mr. Simpson and Mr. Nunnery for the help during the snow and ice storms. Three Rivers School Report Erin Tupman and Sidney Benter, two seniors from Three Rivers gave a talk about the outstanding Art Department at Taylor Rivers High School. They said that 4 students’ portfolios out of 35 selected, the most from any high school, were from Taylor High School. Their teacher is Alison Pulskamp. The students felt especially honored as they don’t have an art facility like most of the other area high schools. Their sinks do not work and, in fact, the department was flooded that day. They also mentioned that the Arts Program will do Oklahoma March 22, 25, 2007. They invited the citizens to attend. POLICE REPORT: Officer Hyrnak reported that January was a slow month with 35 details of which 4 resulted in incident reports. There was a breaking and entering, a purse theft at 154 Miami Avenue and 2 auto accidents. He also reported that he checked the response time for police calls for 2006 and the longest time was 40 minutes and that was due to the requirements of more serious calls and the busyness of the department. FIRE REPORT: Deputy Chief Steve Ober reported that January was also slow for the Fire Department with 44 fire details of which 3 were in the Village. One was a fire in an apartment where someone forgot boiling eggs. It was not serious. There were 7 EMS details of which 6 were in the Village. He said they were planning a summer disaster drill. Mr. Simpson commented that the open house at the renovated station on Mr. Nebo Road revealed a very nice renovated addition with sleeping quarters. He encouraged residents to stop and see it. COUNCIL OLD BUSINESS: None SOLICITOR OLD BUSINESS: Solicitor Reichert questioned the progress from the Law and Ordinance Committee on the parking R.V.’s on public streets. Because Mrs. Romweber was absent due to school commitments it will be discussed at the next meeting. Mayor Rolfes reported that Mrs. Romweber had received a response from the Aston Oaks Home Owners Association. They will place parking regulations in their Newsletter that will go out April concerning the double parking on Turnberry and the R.V. parking on the streets. MAYOR’S OLD BUSINESS: None COMMITTEES: FinanceNone Light, Water and SewerNone Maintenance Mr. Boll reported that the work on the roof of the Administration Building will start as soon as the weather improves. Police & Fire Mr. Simpson discussed the preliminary plans for the expanded Memorial Day Parade. Their plans are to come up US50 to Symmes Avenue and up the hill toward the High School where they will meet the American Legion Parade. Planning and Zoning There was no report. Mayor Rolfes questioned whether Brower Road had officially been added to the CRA. Law & Ordinance None SOLICITOR NEW BUSINESS: None COUNCIL NEW BUSINESS: Mayor Rolfes recognized Terry Simpson and Tim Boll for their dedicated work during the snow removal to help the Maintenance Department. MAYOR’S NEW BUSINESS: Mayor Rolfes suggested that Council renew the expenditure for $375 to again join the Ohio Municipal League. The League keeps us informed on issues in Columbus and lobbies on behalf of those issues affecting Ohio villages and cities. Mr. Nunnery moved that the Village rejoin the Ohio Municipal League for 2007. Mr. Simpson seconded the motion. Motion carried 100%. Mayor Rolfes reported that Hamilton County will provide the Village with a $20,000 grant to do the engineering for Cliff Road. Next month Council will be authorized to accept the grant and contract with JMA to do the engineering. We will apply for a grant for 2008 to finish the project with a SCIP grant. The cost will be $250,000.00 so the Village will need a grant to complete the project. OPEN TO THE FLOOR: ADJOURNMENT:Mr. Nunnery moved that the meeting be adjourned. Mr. Simpson seconded the motion.
